We are thrilled to be working with the Monticello School District on the new Monticello High School Billie Arena! The new basketball arena will have an estimated seating capacity for 1,900 people and will provide a top-notch space for the Monticello Billies to practice and compete. The facility has a budget of $19 million and is planned to include classroom space, coaches’ offices, lockers, storage, laundry, training, filming platform, concourse, concessions, and lobby.

Little Rock Christian Academy – Elementary School Addition

Clark Contractors worked on a 17,500 SF addition to Little Rock Christian Academy’s existing elementary school. Construction occured on an active school campus and involves thoughtful planning and coordination of multiple items, including parking and site access, materials and storage, students/faculty/staff, and school activities. Since construction for the project is adjacent to an operating school, high importance is placed on safety management and scheduling of work in a manner that is conscientious with Little Rock Christian Academy’s ongoing campus operations.

The new addition will includes classrooms, offices, restrooms, a cafeteria, and a kitchen. In addition, approximately 3,300 SF of the existing elementary school will also be remodeled.

Dr. Marian G. Lacey K-8 Academy

Clark is currently working on a new three-story, 230,000 SF K-8 school for the Little Rock School District. The project, which includes the demolition of the existing McClellan High School, will more than double the square footage of the building on the same site. Over 50,000 cubic yards of dirt will be excavated to make room for the Dr. Marian G. Lacey K-8 Academy, including over 1,100 tons of steel.

Located on a spacious 13-acre site, the Dr. Marian G. Lacey K-8 Academy will support 1,484 students plus faculty and staff. There are 84 classrooms and a cafetorium and competition gym for 1,500 people. A voluminous library will greet students and guests as they enter the building, leading into a welcoming concourse that connects all major public portions of the school. Also included are media center, kitchen, science labs, music rooms, art rooms, and administration.

There are several security features throughout the school, including a bullet-resistant vestibule, intrusion-resistant glazing, secure check-in areas, and separation of academic spaces from the public spaces. The building also has a fully certified FEMA-500 tornado shelter located in the Kindergarten area. In addition, the school has both a wet and dry-pipe sprinkler system that can extinguish fires inside and outside the footprint of the building. Site improvements include new landscaping and irrigation, a new artificial turf soccer field, new playgrounds, and a Special Education sensory garden.

Lumberjack and Lady Jack Arena | New Elementary School

Clark Contractors provided construction management services for a new competition gymnasium and new elementary school for Warren School District. Both projects are located on the District’s main campus, with construction occurring simultaneously.

The Lumberjack and Lady Jack basketball arena boasts 1,843 capacity seating, with 2,500 seats available for non-basketball events in which the floor can be cleared. The 36,380 SF facility also includes locker rooms, laundry, multi-purpose room, large classroom, offices, therapy room, an upper-level concourse, and concessions.

Over the past decade, the current elementary school has doubled its enrollment. The new elementary school replaces an aging facility and provide additional growth opportunities for Warren. The school is 65,190 SF and includes 30 classrooms, a music room, stage, cafetorium, kitchen, art room, speech therapy, OT/PT rooms, media center, computer lab, and offices. The project also includes 5,500 SF of safe area throughout corridors in classroom wings.

The 8,443 SF addition for Dierks School District included six classrooms and new restrooms. The addition was tucked into an existing U-shaped building creating a very tight construction site. Accessing our site meant crossing heavy student pedestrian traffic areas on a continuous basis.

In collaboration with the District, Clark developed a detailed fencing plan which included protected pathways to keep students and faculty safe and allow them to conduct their daily activities without interruption. All deliveries were coordinated early as well, so to limit disturbance to campus activities to the greatest extent possible.
